DisDubs is a dubbing game that runs inside Discord. It records voices, so it is worth being plain about what that means. This page describes every piece of data the service handles. It is operated by GridIron Duels LLC, who you can reach at admin@gridiron-duels.com.

The short version

While a take is rolling, a bot records the audio of everyone in the voice channel.
We get your Discord user ID, display name and avatar. Nothing else — no email.
There are no analytics, no advertising, no trackers, and nothing is sold or shared.
Recordings live on one server and are deleted after 30 days.
Email us and we will delete your recordings on request.

What we collect

Voice recordings

When someone starts a take, a bot in your voice channel records the audio of everyone present in that channel, on a separate track per person. This includes people who have not been cast in the scene. Audio from people without a part is not used in the finished dub, but it is captured while the take is running.

Recording only happens while a take is rolling. The bot is visible in the channel member list the whole time it is connected, and the Activity shows a red indicator while tape is running.

Your Discord account

When you open the Activity, Discord asks you to authorise it with the identify scope. That gives us three things: your Discord user ID, your display name, and the URL of your avatar image. We do not request your email address, your message history, your server list, or anything else, and we cannot read any of it.

What we do not collect

No analytics or telemetry. No advertising identifiers. No cookies for tracking. The Activity stores a single flag in your browser (dubs.onboarded.v1) to remember that you have already read the explanation screen; it contains no personal data and never leaves your device.

How it is used

Recorded audio is cut into one clip per line of the scene, and the clips you select are mixed onto the video to produce the finished dub. Your name and avatar are shown to the other people in your session so everyone can see who is playing which part. That is the entirety of it. Your voice is not used to train anything, is not analysed, and is not used to identify you anywhere else.

Where it is stored, and for how long

Audio files and finished renders are stored on the server that runs DisDubs, hosted in the United States by Hetzner. Session state — who is in the room, who is cast as whom — is held only in memory and is gone when the server restarts.

Recordings and rendered videos are deleted 30 days after they are created. Finished dubs are not published anywhere; they are served over an unlisted link to the people in the session, and anyone with that link can view the file until it is deleted.

Who else sees it

Recordings are not sold, shared, or handed to any third party. The only external service involved is Discord itself, which carries the voice audio and provides the sign-in — their handling of it is covered by Discord's privacy policy. The server is hosted by Hetzner, who provide the machine but do not process the data for any purpose of their own.

One exception, and it is us. The person who runs DisDubs can see the list of finished dubs and play them back, in order to act on reports and remove material that breaks the rules — sexual content, harassment, and anything illegal. This is moderation, not browsing: it exists so that a report can be answered and the offending file actually deleted, since a dub's link keeps working for anyone who has it until the file is gone. Nothing is listened to for any other purpose, and the same 30-day deletion applies.

If you report something, we keep what you wrote, your Discord username and id, and which scene or dub you were reporting, so the report can be acted on and so we can tell repeat problems apart from one-off ones. Reports are kept after the recording itself is deleted, because a record of a decision outlasts the thing it was about. Your report is not shown to the person you reported.

We would disclose data if legally compelled to, and would tell you unless prohibited from doing so.

Your choices

Do not be recorded. Leave the voice channel, or ask the host not to start a take. Muting yourself in Discord also means nothing is captured from you.
Delete your recordings. Email admin@gridiron-duels.com with your Discord username and we will delete everything associated with you.
Ask what we hold. Same address. We will tell you, and send you a copy.
Remove the bot. A server administrator can kick it at any time, which stops any further recording in that server immediately.

If you are in the UK, EU, or another region with equivalent law, these are your rights of access, erasure, and objection. The lawful basis for recording is consent, given by joining a session while the bot is present and visible.

Children

DisDubs is not for children under 13, or under the minimum age of digital consent in your country if that is higher. Discord requires the same. We do not knowingly keep recordings of children; tell us and we will delete them.

Security

Traffic is encrypted in transit. Files are stored on a server that only the operator can log in to. This is a small hobby project rather than a company with a security team, and it would be wrong to imply otherwise — do not record anything you would be upset to lose or to have seen.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, the date at the top changes and we will say so in the Activity. Continuing to use DisDubs after that means you accept the new version.
